Opportunity
The Data Management Clerk supports the daily operations of the Midtown WorkBC Centre by providing payroll and administrative assistance. This role focuses on processing WorkBC Wage Subsidy claims, including reviewing documentation, calculating eligible wage amounts, preparing claim submissions, and coordinating reimbursement payments to employers.
The position is responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring documentation meets program requirements, and supporting compliance with WorkBC contractual policy. In addition to wage subsidy processing, the Data Management Clerk provides general administrative support, and provides resource room and front-desk coverage as needed, including responding to inquiries and directing clients appropriately. All client-facing interactions are conducted in a trauma-informed, respectful, and supportive manner, recognizing the diverse experiences and needs of WorkBC participants.
Responsibilities
- Process and administer WorkBC Wage Subsidy claims, including reviewing documentation, calculating eligible wages, and submitting claims on time;
- Maintain accurate records of claims, supporting documents, and correspondence, and assist with audits, reporting, and financial tracking;
- Identify discrepancies or potential compliance issues and escalate as needed;
- Communicate with employers, program participants, and internal staff regarding claim requirements and updates;
- Provide front-desk and resource room support, assisting clients in a trauma-informed, respectful, and supportive manner;
- Coordinate confidential client and program information, ensuring accurate data entry, and record management;
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, actively participating in team efforts and WorkBC centre initiatives;
- Attend staff meetings, committee meetings, training sessions, and agency-wide meetings.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or higher in Accounting, Payroll Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant payroll experience may be considered;
- Strong comprehension of all Microsoft Office programs and database systems including Excel in particular, and Word, Teams, Outlook, and various other web-based applications.
- Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector

- Proficient in numeracy, including payroll calculations and record verification
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population
- Effective time management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
