Opportunity

PCRS seeks an experienced Team Lead for the Vancouver Transitional Housing program in Vancouver. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing leadership, mentorship to staff and direct care support to youth participating in the program.

The Vancouver Housing Team Lead is responsible for providing day to day program oversite to our various sites or to assigned sites. As a member of the Vancouver Youth Services team, the Team Lead is part of a leadership group that oversees PCRSs’ youth services in Vancouver. The Team Lead provides mentorship, support, and supervision to a team of specialized youth transition workers that work within multiple reporting contracts including MCFD and BC Housing. The Team Lead will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, including familiarity with contracts outcomes and budget management. The position will require experience working in Vancouver and experience in the housing field. The Team Lead builds and develops partnerships and networks both in and outside the community. The successful candidate will be passionate about housing and understand the pathways that lead to youth homelessness. They will encourage and promote a trauma informed, strength based and participant focused approach.

This position supports teams who work in the days, evenings, over night and weekends. There will be on-call work, evening, and weekend work. The Team Lead position is an on-site position and not available for a remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, on-board, supervise, and mentor staff and volunteers.
  • Provide direction, coordinate service delivery and programming.
  • Monitor, report and assess service performance related to meeting contract outcomes.
  • Work with Manager to ensure overall operations, finances, quality assurance and service delivery aligns with contract expectations.
  • Complete funder reporting requirements to ensure contract obligations, targets and quality assurance are being met.
  • In partnership with the Manager, explore and pursue opportunities for partnerships, and develop proposals for service expansion, renewal, and development.
  • Understand and apply PCRS’s policies and procedures.
  • Work within applicable Act/Regulations and roles of government and funders.
  • Lead and develop an engaged, collaborative, and effective staff team.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff and participate in team efforts.
  • Provide professional development and training.
  • Advocate and promote the agency’s services, funding needs and value to the community.
  • Community engagement including presentations and communications (updates/ newsletters)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, combined with at least five (5) years’ experience in a leadership position.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Criminal records check including the vulnerable sector
  • Relevant experience in staff leadership, supervision, fiscal management, and budgeting.
  • Class 5 Driver License and submission of a Driver’s Abstract
  • Use of own vehicle with business use insurance (Mileage is paid)
  • Experience working with target population

  • A thorough knowledge of relevant government BC legislation.

  • Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities.
