Term Part Time | Term Length: 6-12 Months | Anticipated Pay Grid 25 ($44.19 - $46.15/hour) | Reporting to: Manager, Youth Services Surrey North

Opportunity
The PCRS Independent School Teacher will work with school staff and lead our students' academic development and curriculum implementation.
Responsibilities
- Deliver curriculum in innovative ways to a specialized student population;
- Create innovative community-based learning activities for students to bring their learning into the real world;
- Plan, develop and implement offsite learning opportunities for students;
- Ensure all content is culturally appropriate, sensitive, and significant. Consulting with community partners and elders regarding culture and language as necessary;
- Assess student growth through progress monitoring, as appropriate, for assessing academic progress and educational accountability;
- Establish and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for staff and students;
- Maintain proper program records, including report cards.
- Provide program evaluation input, leading inspections, and audits in collaboration with the principal.
- Collaborating on the creation and maintenance of Individual Education Plans.
- Adhere to the Independent School Act.
The successful applicant will enjoy working a flexible schedule to accommodate students. This may include occasional evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- VALID B.C. TEACHING CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION - Specialty in Math or Science is required.
- Teaching experience, specifically working with youth aged 13-19
- Ability to teach and support student learning in core subjects for grades 8 to 12.
- Awareness of issues surrounding inner-city education and diversity
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities, special education teaching is an asset.
- Valid BC Driver’s license, use of personal vehicle is required with paid mileage.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
