Opportunity
The Cook will oversee the school meals program for youth ages 13-19. The position is responsible for purchasing of groceries, maintaining inventory and ensuring the kitchen and work space meets Fraser Health cleanliness and safety standards. The staff works within the strategic objectives of Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services to our participants. Recognition that the youth are diverse, incorporating diverse cultural foods while maintaining nutritional standards is essential.
The successful applicant will enjoy working a flexible schedule to accommodate program needs. This may include the occasional evening/weekend for events.
This is an on-site position and not available for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Qualifications
- Professional Cook Level One certification, or two years as a cook.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating a commercial kitchen.
- Current Standard First Aid certificate
- Food Safe Level 2 certification
- Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector
- Valid BC Driver’s license; use of personal vehicle with paid mileage is required.
Additional Assets
- Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics.
- Effective team collaboration skills.
- Experience menu planning; incorporating diverse cultural foods, including local cultural foods
- Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
