Child and Youth Transportation Program

Auxiliary  |  Grid 9 ($27.51 - $28.66/hour)  |  Reporting to: Manager, Youth Services - Surrey South

Opportunity

PCRS is seeking experienced drivers to transport children and youth involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development in the Surrey, White Rock, Delta and Langley areas. The driver will be responsible for pick up and return of children from visitation and potentially other events. The driver may need to stay and oversee youth at times, for example, if the youth if playing soccer.

 

This is an on-call Auxiliary position with hours of operation Monday to Friday between 2:30pm – 7pm, and Saturday/Sunday between 10am - 5pm.

On-call pay will be provided during scheduled on-call hours, regular pay rate will apply during worked hours.

 

Responsibilities

  • Transport and oversee children and youth as required.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and maintain safe driving procedures.
  • Maintain good communication and excellent record keeping.

Qualifications

  • 5 years driving experience with B.C. Class 5 driver's license. Must submit a clean driver's abstract.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 or equivalent certification, including CRP-C training.
  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector check.
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using Agency protocols.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • While an Agency vehicle may be available, the use of a properly insured personal vehicle may also be required.

Additional Assets

  • Post-secondary education related to the field, such as Child and Youth Care or Youth Criminal Justice
