Opportunity

PCRS seeks experienced Housekeeper for The 1.1.2., a 24 hour, 30 bed, youth transitional housing program in Surrey.

 

The Housekeeper will work as part of a team that provides support to diverse participants residing in The 1.1.2.  The team works within the strategic objectives of Pacific Community Resources (PCRS) to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services to our participants.  As a member of the team, the housekeeper performs a variety of cleaning duties to ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the rooms and common areas used by participants and staff. 

 

This position requires a flexible schedule that may include day, evening and weekend hours.  This is an on site position and not available for remote work or hybrid work arrangements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of cleaning duties such as washing and disinfecting areas, dusting, polishing, vacuuming, sweeping, wet mopping and shampooing to ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of communal areas and commercial kitchen
  • Perform a variety of duties related to laundry, including washing mop heads, microfiber cloths, misc. soiled cloths, ensuring laundry room is disinfected though the wash procedure, organizing and maintaining required homemaking supplies and laundry areas.
  • Inventory control – report any janitorial items needing to be replenished to Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Report any damage or areas requiring janitorial or maintenance attention to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Participant as a team member with other staff to ensure a safe and caring environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • Minimum of Grade 12 education, plus one (1) year of recent related experience with cleaning in institutions or residential settings
  • Level 1 Aid
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment

  • Experience working with vulnerable and unhoused young people. 
  • Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics.  
  • Effective team collaboration skills.   
  • Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.  
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities
  • WHMIS certification preferred
