Position Summary:
The Auxiliary Housing Support Worker will provide one-on-one support to youth housing participants aged 16 through 24 and help them work on life skills and individualized goals, provide ongoing case management and provide support to participants in maintaining housing. The position involves supporting participants with household tasks and room preparation for new move-ins/outs. The successful applicant will have a background in nonviolent crisis intervention, harm reduction approach and experience liaising with a team of supportive staff. A solid background in work with LGBTQ2S* youth, Indigenous youth, at-risk youth, and youth exiting the foster care systems is required. Previous supportive housing work preferred.
Staff will act as a part of an integrated case management team with other social service professionals such as MCFD social workers, mental health and addictions support staff and education support workers. This worker will be a part of a team of workers providing 24-7 support on site at PCRS’s Alder House Program which is a shared accommodation setting for youth in and from foster care.
The hours of this position on call auxiliary, program supervisors will notify auxiliary staff when shifts become available and staff will select which shifts they would like to take. Both daytime and overnight auxiliary staff are required and as such a wide variety of shifts will be available.
Primary Duties:
- Assisting participants to set and achieve personal goals
- Facilitating successful transition to long term sustainable housing after program involvement
- Supporting participants with household tasks
- Keeping accurate and up to date case notes and files
- Helping support cleanliness and upkeep of programming site.
Academic and Job Experience Required:
B.A. or a degree in a related field, a community service support worker (CSSW) diploma or child and youth care counsellor (CYCC) diploma plus two years’ experience. Extensive field experience and/or combination of relevant life experience will be taken into consideration.
Basic Requirements:
- Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector
- Current standard first aid certificate and CPR
- Proof of being fully Vaccinated for Covid19
Desired Requirements:
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention – CPI

Salary Range: $27.26/hour – $28.43/hour
